Martino Gamper

Born 1971, Merano (IT). Lives and works in London (UK)

After completing an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker Martino Gamper went on to study at the Academy of Applied Arts & Fine Arts in Vienna and the Royal College of Art in London, graduating with a masters in 2000.

Working across disciplines, Gamper engages in a variety of projects from exhibition design, interior design, one-off commissions and the design of mass-produced products for the cutting edge of the international furniture industry. He has been recognised for his constant pursuit of developing new materials along with the re-purposing of existing materials in his work. Although the work is always functional it is also exhibited in fine art contexts at both museums and commercial galleries, as well as being a sought after name to work within the design industry.

Gamper opened his design studio in East London in 2000, where he continues to live and work.

In 2023 Martino was awarded an OBE for services to Design.
